Click. Beep. Is this thing on?

I recently recorded a series of videos to help people reduce stress & learn some easy relaxation techniques.
I recorded them at home, with a shiny new flip video camera on a tripod.
Having never done this before, it’s amazing how off-putting trying to talk to an inanimate object can be,
staring into the red recording light transfixed like a rabbit in headlights…
that little red light has the power to disrupt thought & change coherent sentences into garbled umm…
& uhhh… because… where was I…& so, yes… with the…mumble mumble
Click. Beep. Start again.

Eventually I decided to have a plan of what I was going to say & actually practice -
pretending to talk to a real person – rather than the HAL like eye of the camera…
“I don’t think that’s a good idea Steve.” the camera whispers…
Resisting the urge to smash the camera & run away giggling, I managed to record the videos…

You know when you watch news readers on tv, they tend to sit still  & look at the camera, not moving much or gesticulating wildly?
Partly I’ve come to realise, because the camera picks up subtle movements & exaggerates them…
well ok – either that or perhaps my realisation should be that in real life I gesticulate wildly & pull funny faces…
or I have an ‘expressive face’, or something.
I ended up sitting reasonably still, calm & mostly looking into the camera -
(with only the occasional flailing hand or sideways glance…)

Anyway, once I got over feeling a bit self conscious & remembered
to laugh at myself, I produced a short series of videos, which
will give you an experience of some easy to follow relaxation
techniques & help you stop feeling stressed out.
The free videos are on my site now http://steveeast.co.uk
Hope you enjoy them & remember to smile when you relax!
:-) )))
